This is the “Toriuchi Sanma” ruleset, a sanma ruleset using 8 total 1s and 4 0p, as adapted from multiple existing rulesets of the same name (like this one).

The Gist

Toriuchi

“Toriuchi” (鳥撃ち) translates to “bird shooting”, and the core “toriuchi” rules are around 1s (the birds) and 7p (the guns):

  1. the deck has 4 additional 1s tiles for a total of 112 tiles.
  2. if a winning hand has two or more yaku: each 1s is worth 1 chip.
    • luck-based yaku do not count toward the above requirement: ippatsu, haitei, houtei, chankan.
  3. bird shooting (when paying chips):
    • for each 7p in the paying player’s hand, that player negates 1 chip they would pay for 1s.

Supporting Rules

  • hanchan
  • No fu counting or tsumo loss (see Hand Scoring)
  • 35,000 start with 40,000 return; point differences paid in chips (see Shuugi)
  • floating uma paid in chips; no oka (see Shuugi)
  • 4z is NOT nukidora. 4z is always a guest wind.
  • the deck has 4 0p but no 0s
  • nashi-nashi: kuitan and atozuke are both off. Specifically:
    • tanyao is menzen-only
    • first call (chii/pon/kan) must contribute to a yaku in the final hand
    • the hand must have a yaku no matter which tile it wins on
  • kansai chiitoi is allowed (no bonus)
  • basengo: 500/honba/player
  • simultaneous pon/kan call priority: atamahane

Special Yaku

  • using all 8 1s: yakuman

Shuugi

Chip value: 5,000.

  • Tanyao: 1 chip
  • 0p, ippatsu, uradora: 1 chip
  • Tobi: 1 chip (for first busting payment in atamahane order)
  • yakuman: 10 chips on ron, 5 chips all on tsumo
  • Chonbo: 3 chips each

Uma

Anyone below 40,000 pays the 1st place 4 chips (i.e., a floating uma based on whether the 2nd place has 40,000).

Raw Points

After the game ends, raw points are rounded to the nearest 5,000. Difference from 40,000 is paid/received in chips.

Hand Scoring

No fu counting or tsumo loss. See below table for breakdown. Basically, 1-han non-dealer is 1,000, and any payment is 1,000 minimum. Non-dealer tsumo has some arbitrary splits (these splits are pretty standard in no-fu no-tsumo-loss rulesets):

oya ron oya tsumo   ko ron ko tsumo
2000 1000 all 1 han 1000 1000 all
3000 2000 all 2 han 2000 1000 all
6000 3000 all 3 han 4000 1000 / 3000
12000 6000 all 4 han 8000 3000 / 5000
18000 9000 all 6 han 12000 4000 / 8000
24000 12000 all 8 han 16000 6000 / 10000
36000 18000 all 11 han 24000 8000 / 16000
48000 24000 all 13 han 32000 12000 / 20000
